Elizabeth Lucy HelyElizabeth Lucy Hely was born in London in 1870. Her father, James Joseph Hely, had a confectionary business which continued until well into the 20th century. He married her mother, Tamson Deane, in 1861.

Elizabeth married Henry James Burgess in 1890 and they had six children: five sons and one daughter. In the photograph she is flanked by sons Reginald (born 1897) and Harold (b. 1907) with her granddaughter, Sylvia, next to her father, my "Uncle Reg". The other four children were Albert (b. 1893), Lucy (b. 1899), Frederick (b. 1900) and Cyril (b. 1909).
